Mother Of Sylva’s Running Mate Kidnapped

100 year old mother of a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Chief Wilberforce Igiri, has been abducted by unknown men.

The Nation reports that there is outrage in the state over the kidnap of the mother of Chief Wilberforce Igiri who is the running mate of Chief Timipre Sylva, the gubernatorial candidate of the APC in the last Election.

The recent kidnap is not unconnected to the tensed political atmosphere in the state. Chief Sylva served as the governor of the state under the umbrella of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) from 2007 to 2011 before defecting to the APC.

The PDP  has accused APC of planning to rig the forthcoming election. In response, the APC accused the current governor, Seriaki Dickson of also planning to disrupt the peace of the state by mobilising some youth to cause mayhem.

A week ago, Sylva and Dickson engaged in a war of words over who performed better as governor of the state in what has become a usual occurrence ahead of the governorship election.
