The
Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has assured
stakeholders in Bayelsa state, that there will be no problem in the
upcoming Governorship elections.
The Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC), Mr Baritor Kpagih, said “The materials are ballot papers and result sheets; we have received part of them but we will not distribute the one we have until when we have them complete.
“The materials are supposed to have got to us before now but the arrangement was disrupted by the election that was just conducted in Kogi last Saturday.”
Kpagih also encouraged politicians in the state to avoid violence and play by the rules.
He also said “The materials are for INEC offices in the eight local government areas of the state and will later be distributed to all the wards in the areas.
“Bayelsa is a difficult terrain but we are ready and committed to conduct free, fair and credible election.”
The Bayelsa state Governorship elections will hold on Saturday, December 5, 2015.
Following the cancellation of the results of the poll in 91 polling units, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) declared the governorship election held in Kogi, inconclusive.
