The Nigerian Senate on Tuesday, November 17, considered and adopted the report of the Legislative agenda for the 8th Senate.While briefing newsmen, Sabi Abdullahi, the spokesman of the Senate stressed the commitment of the 8th senate to serve Nigerians.
“The 8th Senate approved and adopted the report of the ad hoc committee on the legislative agenda and brought to a conclusion the production.
“It has been approved and hence forth this 8th Senate will be guided by the content of this document.
“In the coming days we should be able to produce this document and circulate for all Nigerians to be able to know and to become a companion to our legislative functions,” he said.
The agenda aims at developing an effective and efficient Senate positioned to carry its constitutionally recognized mandate of legislation, oversight and representation.
It also aims to establish high ethical standards in the conduct of Senate business and to strengthen the mechanism and processes of committees of the senate to deliver on legislative goals.
This agenda also improves the harbor modern communication technology in the conduct of the Senate’s legislative business.
Abdulahi also added that the 2016 budget will be communicated and actions to commence immediately as soon as it’s available.
“The 2016 budget by intent is not stalled, “he said.
Meanwhile, the committees to be inaugurated on Wednesday are banking, finance, appropriation, public account, communication justice, intelligence and INEC.
